Residents' Help Sought as Church Collects Back-to-School Items for Children in Need

It's almost time to head back to the classroom, and one local church wants to send your child back in style.Free backpacks, pencils, notebooks and more will be given out free of charge on Saturday, August 16 to any student who is in need. This is the 22nd year that members of the Bethlehem Apostolic Temple have been gathering to hand out school supplies to students in need. Zanesville Man Fatally Shoots Woman Intruder

ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Police in central Ohio say a man fatally shot a woman after she broke into his apartment. Officers say the man was wounded in the exchange of gunfire with the woman early Thursday at the apartment in Zanesville, about 50 miles east of Columbus. Killed was 39-year-old Kristina Lynne Holskey after she broke into the residence of 46-year-olf Terry McConnell. McConnell was shot in the stomach and was hospitalized in serious condition. Roaring '20's Come to Moundsville's Strand Theatre

The Strand Theatre will take audiences back to the "Roaring 20's" -- as it presents "Chicago, the Musical."Players went through the final dress rehearsal in Moundsville, Wednesday evening, July 30. This presentation was a special one for sponsors helping to bring the production to the Strand. Major funding for the musical came from Moundsville Pharmacy and Bordas and Bordas Law Offices.

Belmont College Names Next President

Belmont College on Friday announced that Dr. Paul Gasparro will serve as the school's next President. Gasparro was unanimously selected by the Belmont College Board of Trustees. His term will begin on August 14, 2014. He most recently served at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland as a District Vice President.
