Nine People Arrested in Slaying of Ohio Man

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) - Police in northeast Ohio say nine people have been arrested in connection with an incident last week that left a 24-year-old man shot to death. Elyria police say Davion Strupe was shot in the back July 1 as he tried to flee a home after being dragged outside by three people. Missing Washington County Pa. Man Found Dead

An elderly man who has been missing for a month has been found dead.Authorities believe they have found the body of 88-year-old George Pochiba, who went missing from his Washington County home back on June 10. Pennsylvania State Police say Pochiba's body was found in a field in North Bethlehem Township.Pochiba, suffered from dementia. The cause of his death is still under investigation

Weather Service Confirms Tornado Touch-Down in West Virginia

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down near Fairmont this week during a summer storm. The weather service says the EF-1 tornado traveled about 2 miles along a narrow path between the communities of Smithtown and Opekiska on Tuesday afternoon. The tornado carried winds of up to 100 miles per hour and snapped or uprooted numerous hardwood trees. A tree fell through the roof of a garage, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported. New Martinsville Police Chief Warns of IRS Scam

The New Martinsville Police Department is asking residents to be on the lookout for a scam circulating across the area.Police Chief Tim Cecil said several residents have received calls telling them they are entitled to "big refunds," or that they owe money that must be immediately paid to the IRS.
